Birds earrings made by Pauliina Rundgren Handicrafts contains five different Finnish bird species: Great spotted woodpecker, Crossbill, Golden Oriole, Kingfisher and Bearded tit. These light and attractive earrings are comfortable to wear.
The material of the birds earrings is strong birch plywood, which is laser cut into shape.
The surface pattern is printed with odorless and ecological printing ink and finally protected with a special coating.
The surface is highly resistant to mechanical abrasion, moisture and UV rays. Remember, however, that wood material cannot withstand soiling. Take your earrings off when you take a shower or swim.
The round tile against the ear is enamel.
The earring pin is made of stainless steel for jewelry use. Jewelery parts made of stainless steel contain nickel, but due to the passive film on the surface, it cannot be released. Scratches and other breakages caused to the passive film during use are repaired by themselves.
The birds that inspired the jewelery in the series are all species that occurs in Finland:
Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) is the most common woodpecker in Finland. Main food of Great spotted woodpecker is spruce and pine seeds.
Crossbill (Loxia pytyopsittacus) is a resident of the northern coniferous forest, whose strong beak crosses from the tip.
Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus) is endangered in Finland and can be found in Lake Finland. It’s hard to get to see, but you can recognize it from the song.
Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is a spectacular bird thriving along streams and small rivers. It is one of the rarest bird nesting in Finland.
Bearded tit (Panurus biarmicus) thrives in the reeds on the shores of the lakes. There are about 200 - 500 nesting couples of bearded tits in Finland.
