" The Sun Lion was Kalevala Koru's 60th anniversary piece of jewelry. The jewelry was modeled after a round relic box attached to a silver cross pendant chain, the valuable contents of which are guarded by a lion depicted on the lid of the box, whose bushy mane spreads like the golden rays of the sun. The cross pendant is part of an early medieval silver treasure that was found in 1887 in Halikko, Joensuu, hidden in the earth during the spring plowing.
