Kalevala Koru's bronze Kuusamo Ax earrings.
Total height 35 mm, width 18 mm.
Used, excellent condition.
"The one who wore an ax-shaped piece of jewelry had power and strength. However, it did not protect the wearer from iron axes and swords. In ancient times, when danger threatened, it was common to hide valuables safely in the bosom of the earth. The person who hid them did not always return to retrieve their treasure. The prototype of this jewelry was a large plate pendant in the shape of an ax has been found in the village of Lämsä in Kuusamo as part of a silver treasure that was hidden in the ground during the time of the crusaders, a time that was both a time of unprecedented prosperity and stormy events in the North.
