The most common fish species used in fish skin products are burbot (Lota lota), salmon (Salmo salar), pike (Esox lucius) and pikeperch (Sander lucioperca). Fish skin is processed with traditional vegetable tanning, e.g. using wood bark in Mikkeli as ready-made leather through numerous work steps.
